Couples & Relationship Counselling
Therapy for individuals and couples in the Clapham
and Lambeth area of South London
Welcome to my Practice
Relationship counselling can help you to look more deeply into the original hopes and sometimes disappointments of your life, partnership or marriage. From my experience, I know that by providing a safe therapeutic space that allows us to take time out to look at the issues together, these problems can be resolved resulting in positive changes.
My commitment to my work and support for my clients extends beyond counselling sessions. It includes a regular blog that discusses current issues that can stress our relationships with some ideas for their resolution.
New Blog: Beat the Autumnal Blues
That last minute burst of summer really was a surprise and a crazy adjustment to the anticipated rhythms of the year.
Just as children went back to school and students prepared for College or Uni - instead of the usual predictable pattern of settling into autumn we were thrown into a tropical bubble that was totally unexpected.
The autumn mood was sidelined - almost disguised by the heat - yet now the days are quietly shortening, the clocks have gone back and t-shirts and shorts have become sweaters and socks, autumn creeps back and for many people it is a time of quiet dread as seasonal patterns can really govern our mood. For some it can be a genuinely affecting issue. Chemical patterns in the brain can really affect our state of mind.
Natural Serotonin is the hormone influencing mood and sleep. Less exposure to sun and light can be linked to low spirits.
Melatonin is the hormone that causes tiredness if more than normal is produced. With people who are particularly sensitive to shorter days it is proven that autumn depression is a tangible thing. To read on …. please click here here
About Christina
Christina Fraser MBACP is a highly experienced individual, relationship, marriage and couples counsellor. She has been working in her south west London private practice for over 20 years and her clients, both individuals and couples, are primarily from the Lambeth and Clapham area. Since the pandemic, the focus of her work has been online counselling and therapy. Prior to the lockdown, she worked face-to-face in her therapy practice and she hopes to be able to return to offering counselling in person as soon as it is safe to do so, as well as continuing to work online.
Christina had an early education in art and believes that this creative training and experience enhances her ability as a counsellor to observe much of what can be easily missed or ignored in client relationships. It enables her to offer a different perspective to clients who may be stuck in a particular way of looking at issues in their relationship. She is very committed to her own continuing training and development and completed further training that builds on this way of working: helping us to understand ourselves better by recognising the negative conversations we have in our heads and their impact in our everyday lives. By becoming aware of these negative thoughts, we can see which buttons get pressed, and why we can react so acutely to certain behaviours in others. When we realise how much of this comes from early patterns in childhood and how it affects our decision making and our perspectives in relationships, we can begin to make positive change with the support of an experienced and well qualified counsellor.
